The 3rd Congress on Innovations in Heart Failure was held from June 27 to 29, 2024, at Yeni Clinic Medical Institution, organized by the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology (ASC). The well-prepared event commenced with a welcoming speech from Dr. Shahana Aleskerli, head of the ASC Heart Failure Working Group. The president of ASC, Dr. Ulvi Mirzoyev, expressed his gratitude to those who contributed to the organization of the event and to the supporting institutions. Following this, Araz Nasirov, Deputy Executive Director of the public legal entity TABIB, emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation in the activities of public organizations. The official opening ceremony of the event continued with speeches by Professor Cecilia Linde from Karolinska University, the future president of the European Society of Cardiology, Elmig Isgandarov, Head of the Training Management Department in Medical Institutions of TABIB, and Barat Yusubov, Director of Yeni Clinic. Dr. Barat Yusubov spoke about the contributions of the ASC to the development of cardiology and medical services for cardiac patients in our country.
The first day of the three-day event featured three different courses. In the following days, leading specialists from local and foreign countries discussed the latest innovations and research in the management of heart failure, exchanging experiences. The congress also showcased the latest research findings and innovative treatment approaches in the management of heart failure. Discussions were held on the impact of new technologies and therapeutic options on patient care. Furthermore, joint sessions were organized with representatives from the European Society of Cardiology and the Turkish Society of Cardiology.
As part of the congress, a clinical case competition dedicated to the memory of Dr. Gulmammad Hajiyev was held. Various doctors presented fascinating clinical case presentations, with Dr. Gulay Mammadova being declared the winner for her presentation on "Acute Heart Failure Following Cesarean Section in a Patient with CC-TGA."
The Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology aims to further expand its activities in promoting research, education, and best practices in the field of cardiology.
