Cardiofest 2024 Summary

The Azerbaijan Cardiology Society organized the Azerbaijan Cardiology Festival - Cardiofest 2024, a series of congresses held for the first time on such a large scale in our country and the region. This event, covering not only cardiologists but also specialists in internal medicine, took place at the Ritz Carlton Hotel from December 13-15, 2024. The event kicked off on December 12, 2024, with courses on six different topics and continued with a comprehensive scientific program of congresses starting on December 13. On December 13-14, the 13th National Cardiology Congress and the 6th Interventional Cardiology Congress were held, while the 1st Pulmonary Hypertension Congress and the 1st Cardiometabolic Congress took place on December 15.

The opening speech by the chairman of the Azerbaijan Cardiology Society, Ulvi Mirzoyev, was followed by remarks from local and international guests. They highlighted the successful organization of Cardiofest 2024, emphasizing its role in enhancing Azerbaijan’s reputation in the medical field at the international level and affirming the country's progress in adopting innovations in the healthcare sector.

Subsequently, representatives of the ACS Board presented special awards to the guests on behalf of the society. Academician Yuri Belenkov, Prof. Çetin Erol, Prof. Ertan Demirtaş, and Prof. Petar Seferovic were honored with the title “Masters of Cardiology” by the Azerbaijan Cardiology Society. Prof. Zviad Kipiani, Prof. Yuri Lopatin, and Prof. Oktay Sancaktar were awarded the title of “Honorary Member.” Prof. Muzaffer Degertekin and Prof. Teoman Kılıç were recognized for their contributions to the friendship between the Turkish Cardiology Society and the Azerbaijan Cardiology Society.

Cardiofest 2024 hosted leading specialists from 18 countries, featured live case interventions broadcast from hospitals in six countries, and organized collaborative sessions with ESC’s European Heart Journal, ESC EAPCI, and the EuroCTO Club. A Board examination was also conducted during the festival, which marked the 15th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Cardiology Society. The event was notable for its innovations, including the organization of the Cardiometabolic Congress in partnership with the Azerbaijan Endocrinology Society, the Azerbaijan Nephrology Society, the Azerbaijan Internal Medicine Association, and the Azerbaijan Pulmonology Society. These congresses, focusing on heart-related internal diseases, were held for the first time in the country.
