As previously mentioned, the annual congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) was held in London from August 30 to September 2, 2024. A large number of cardiologists from our country participated in the event. The Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology was also actively involved in several sessions throughout the congress and was duly represented. On the first day of the event, August 30, 2024, a joint session between the Azerbaijan and Latvian Societies of Cardiology was held on the topic of “Advancements in Cardiovascular Care for Cancer Patients.” Dr. Ulvi Mirzoyev, the president of the society, moderated the session, with contributions from Dr. Tora Sadigova, head of the Scientific Research Working Group, and Dr. Yasmin Rustamova, a member of the Board of Directors.
On the following day, August 31, 2024, Dr. Ulvi Mirzoyev chaired the “Daily Highlights” session, during which Dr. Mehriban Iskandar, head of the Digital Cardiology and Innovations Working Group, and Dr. Parviz Jafarov gave presentations. That same day, a "Get Together" meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology's stand, where many leading cardiologists and notable figures from the European Society of Cardiology visited, and discussions were held regarding establishing mutual collaborations.
During the ESC Congress, several of our doctors, including Dr. Khatira Abdullalimova, Dr. Zohra Alimli, Dr. Shafa Shahbazova, Dr. Shahana Aleskerli, Dr. Shafag Mustafayeva, Dr. Ayten Hajiyeva, and others, participated as moderators and speakers in various sessions, representing our society with distinction.
Additionally, during the congress, the European Society of Cardiology presented new FESC (Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology) memberships. Fifteen active members of the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology—Sara Bayramzade, Mehriban Iskandar, Shahin Khalilov, Gulane Agayeva, Gulay Mammadova, Maharram Nasifov, Vafa Nezirova, Sona Gahramanova, Musa Gahramanov, Shafa Shahbazova, Khatira Abdullalimova, Elnur Isayev, Parviz Jafarov, Rashad Abasov, and Saleh Huseynov—were announced as new FESC members.
Thus, the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology successfully completed its participation in the ESC Congress 2024.
