The 5th Heart Failure Update Congress of the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology Successfully Held in Baku.

On June 12, 2026, the 5th Heart Failure Update Congress, organized by the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology, was successfully held at Fairmont Baku Hotel.

The congress brought together nearly 400 physicians from healthcare institutions across the country and served as an important scientific platform for discussing contemporary approaches to the diagnosis and management of heart failure, the latest clinical evidence, and international guideline updates.

In addition to leading local experts, distinguished international faculty members participated in the congress and delivered lectures on current developments in heart failure care. The event provided an excellent opportunity for scientific exchange, professional networking, and the sharing of international experience.

As part of the scientific program, the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology Board Examination was also conducted, contributing to the assessment of professional knowledge and the promotion of continuous medical education among cardiologists.

One of the highlights of the congress was the traditional Clinical Case Competition dedicated to the memory of the distinguished cardiologist Gulmammad Hajiyev. The competition provided young physicians with an opportunity to present challenging and educational clinical cases and demonstrate their clinical reasoning and presentation skills.

According to the decision of the jury, first place was awarded to Dr. Afaq Musayeva for her presentation entitled "Biventricular Failure Secondary to Right Ventricular Free Wall Rupture." As part of the award, she received registration support to attend the 42nd National Congress of the Turkish Society of Cardiology, which will be held in Antalya, Türkiye, on November 3, 2026.

The congress also featured a recognition ceremony for physicians who successfully completed the Azerbaijan Society of Cardiology Accreditation Program. Certificates were presented to the accredited physicians in acknowledgment of their commitment to professional development and high standards of clinical practice.

The 5th Heart Failure Update Congress was conducted at a high scientific and organizational level and was met with strong interest from participants. The scientific discussions and exchange of expertise throughout the event are expected to contribute to the implementation of evidence-based practices and further improve the quality of care provided to patients with heart failure in Azerbaijan.
